Harold Victor Terho was born August 21, 1921 at Round Lake, Minnesota. He attended grade school there, graduated from Grand Rapids High School, and attended Itasca Junior College at Coleraine, MN.
He enlisted in the Army in July 1942 and reported to Fort Snelling. From there, he was sent to Sheppard Field in Wichita Falls Texas. In December he graduated as an Air Mechanic. On 5 Jan 1943, he completed Bomber-School in Ingelwood, CA as an Aerial Engineer.

He recieved his Air Crew Wings and Staff Sergeant Rating at Tyndall Field, Fla. He finished his Technical Training on 11 May, 1943. in the 334th Bomb Group, 476th Bomb Squadron at Columbia, SC.

Harold was sent over-seas on 30 May 1943, to a base in Africa. In Oct. he was moved to a base in Southern Italy (Grottaglia) It was from there that he was sent out on his last Combat Mission. On 2 Dec. 1943, at 9:30 and the B-25 Mitchell, #41-30326 on which he was Aerial Gunner/Tail and Engineer recieved a direct hit from Anti-Aircraft fire over Cheiti, Italy. He was 22 years old.

Italian peasants buried him in a field in Chieti, and from there, he was later moved to the National Cemetery at Bari, Italy. In 1944, his body was moved to it's final resting place at home in the United States. Hie last reburial service was held at the Herreid Morturary in Squaw Lake, Minn. and officiated by Rev. John Sweeney, of the Methodist Church.

Harold was awarded the Purple Heart Posthumously.
