L."Nick" Cresap's daughter's Jan C Carithers Ancestors

Sedona, AZ

In Jan's words, a part of their Heritage :)

My ancestors settled in the Maryland/Pennsylvania area back in early 1700.  Thomas Cresap was a Pioneer, Pathfinder and Patriot.  George Washington stayed at his home on many occasions, when George was young and a surveyor.  They were involved (father and sons) with all sorts of indian conflicts; the Ohio Company; French & Indian War; the Penn/Maryland border dispute (known as Cresaps War or Conojocular War); the Maryland Militia; the famous Logan speech; Jefferson/Braddock/Gist,  etc. etc. etc. I have linear yards of information going back to that history that I would love to do research on.  We are the only privately held geneological society.  Members meet at the old fort/house (1764) in the Cumberland, Maryland area every two years.  I have books and books and books on the subjects involved.  If you are curious then Google Thomas Cresap or Cresap Society or Michael Cresap.  Michael started the Maryland militia and was a Captain in the Revolutionary War.  He died after leaving Boston for home.  He died in New York and is buried at the famous Trinity Church in down town Wall Street.  It's all so very facinating and there is SO MUCH out there that it would take me years.  But, I've got a start.  It's just time consumming.  Also, when I was looking at Michael Cresap it took me to Revolutionary War records, which took me to Footnotes.com
