Summary

This is the research about three young daughter's of the alleged father T. C. Coffey who drowned in Bond Creek near Wanette, Pottawatomie Co., Oklahoma. This is my on-going research and not complete. Corrections to the article: I believe the father's name was Ephraim VanWinkle/Vernon Coffey and not T. C. Coffey; I believe they drowned in Pond Creek instead of Bond Creek. The mother was actually the step-mother of the girls. The real mother Elizabeth J. "Eliza" (Wood) Coffey previously died 1899 or 1900 in OK. Ephraim Coffey married second Beulah B. Roach 10 Feb 1901 in Pottawatomie Co., OK. Believe the mother was this 2nd wife Beulah B. (Roach) Coffey.

There are 5 Coffey Crosses at this cemetery with no names listed.  I believe 3 are the 3 drown daughter's of Ephraim VanWinkle Coffey and Elizabeth J. Wood.  The other two are their mother Elizabeth J. (Wood) Coffey who died 1899-1900 in OK and perhaps the second wife of Ephraim's Beulah B. (Roach) Coffey (1883 Ind. Terr. - 1915 OK).

Beulah's parents John Wesley Roach & Susan Frances Henley are buried in this same cemetery.

Brother to Ephraim: Wesley H. Coffey b. 1881 d. 1956  IOOF Cemetery, Norman, Cleveland Co., OK (Source: findagrave.com)

Notes: Other Coffey's are buried in this same cemetery.  No T. C. or Ephraim Coffey

Ephram Coffey's third wife was Irene Redwine Mooneyham (1888(Grayson Ct. Tx to 1965 OK). She was the daughter of Rebecca Ann Rutledge Redwine and James Wesley (buried under the name John W) Redwine). She was Ephriam's son-in-law's Willie Steve Redwine's (he was married to Virginia Coffey)sister.

The three daughters that drown on May 12, 1910 were Jessie 16, Rosa 14 and Sadie 12.

I just located the graves with photos of each of Jessie, Rosa and Sadie. The markers identify each as daughters of EV Coffey, died 5/12/1910. They are side by side in Wanette Cemetery, Pottawatomie Co. OK. The grave locations are A-R3-14, 15, and 16. Photographs can be viewed by going to OK Cemeteries/Pottawatomie Co.
