George White Mitchell, born 19 November 1837 in Lostcreek Township. He served in the Union Army during the Civil War, enlisting in the 2nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company D. He was mustered out in 1864. He married Rebecca Delcina Covault Garver, a widow, in 1866. Rebecca died in 1875 and their two children had died. George married again to Laura Ann Scoby in 1878 and had three children: William Cresson, Mable Claire and Mary Blanche. George died in Shelby County, Ohio on 24 January 1908 and was interred in Cedar Point Cemetery near Pasco, Ohio.
