George Emmons Hollister, son of Samuel Emmons Hollister was born born 22 February, 1850 in La Grange County, Indiana. He lived in Michigan before traveling west to California where he was married to Lanie Jane Martin 20 November, 1872 in Santa Barbara, California. In 1875, he was involved with a mining rights deal with his brother Jacob and others in Humboldt County, California. However, in 1887 his call to life was with the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He did everything from traveling North to preach the word to handing out pamplets in San Francisco to people arriving by ship. He died 27 May, 1930 in Hemet, Riverside County, California. George's father was a civil war volunteer, as his brother John Jacob was (1st NY Mounted Rifles).
