About this Publication Title

Bayland Orphan Home Records

These records consist of nine volumes, and several loose documents, kept by the Board of Trustees of the Bayland Orphan Home from inception until it closed in 1948. Originally, the Bayland Orphan Home was sited near Morgan's Point on Goose Creek in what is now Baytown, Texas. The children, both boys and girls, were not always orphans in the sense that both parents were dead. Often, children were admitted "on account of the extreme poverty of the applicants."
