7 December 1944 — 1Lt Werner G.Goering was returning from a routine PFF training flight in 42-97557 "Mercy’s Madhouse". The right landing gear collapsed after completing the landing roll down the runway. It was caused by a broken landing gear reduction screw. There was extensive damage to the No. 4 propeller and engine, and to the outboard wing. source 303rdbg.com website
