About this Document
This publication contains index cards for pension applications of veterans who served in the U.S. Army between 1861 and 1900, including wars other than the Civil War. Records are sorted by units within regiments from each state in the Union. Find a soldier by searching on his name or browse by regiment. Learn about his term of service, and use the information to request his pension record. Unique to this series of records are death dates and locations for many of the veterans who died after the war.

Dr. Charles Scott Woodmansee died January 18, 1902 at his home on Richardson Street in Grass Valley, Nevada County, CA. He is buried in the Grass Valley Masonic Cemetery on Kidder Avenue, Grass Valley, Nevada County, CA. His government issued stone is very worn and in need of replacement. His rank appears as Lieut. upon his stone. Also in the same plot is John Miners Young of Company C. Ringgold Battalion Pennsylvania Cavalry. John Miners Young married Dr. Woodmansee's sister and thus was his brother-in-law.
