This is a really interesting account. It makes me want to explore even further my own family history, also from Ireland and Scotland.

I guess I never really thought of this like that. Eisenhower had gained such prestige by the time of June 1944, that the responsibility of the war basically laid with him.

A lot of these officers look very young. This is a testament as to the true fighting power of both forces in the war.

I think this is one of the few photographs with the great General Burnside.

This picture shows him as one of his soldiers. Usually, the appearance of Generals is distant and cold. Eisenhower, apparently, was not like that.
